There were to be Ohomes fit for heroes¹ in post-war Britain, but for Glaswegians returning to their tenement slums the optimism born of victory bore little resemblance to reality. There was much work to do and Glasgow rose to the challenge. Tower blocks replaced tenements, new suburbs were developed and the city was ringed with new roads and motorways. The car replaced the tram and the bulldozer reigned supreme. Auld Glasgow (post-war) comprises a fascinating collection of cine films held by Scottish Film and Television Archive taking us back through the memories of a rapidly changing city.
